So, my build of "the green bastard" is down to the final details, and a couple of opportunities have come into alignment all at once, which has me buying a second car and building it. (yeah, I know...building is an addiction of mine.)

And NO the Green Bastard isnt for sale....yet.

The criteria for this build is simple. A turbo d16z6 that lays the smack down to the tune of 300+ hp, in an EG, on the cheap. And in a REALLY tight time frame.

Anyone have an intrest in watching a Vitara build happen?
Its happening regardless if I document it or not, so chime in if you want to see this deal from its start!

As it stands at this moment, FJ distributors for the bottom end stuff. Of course, that may change at a moments notice with me, as opportunities come quickly.
I`ll start snapping pictures of the engine build tomorrow - I actually got a start on it today.

Just cant seem to stop building turbo cars for some reason. Besides, a cheap turbo D is very appealing in an underdog sort of way!
Wont be as pretty as the green bastard, but should shock the hell out of a few people with how it goes!

Got a little done today.
Block honed & somewhat clean.

closeup of honing

A couple of doodads for the build

Tomorrow, notching the block begins to clear the rods, and perhaps get the crank prepped & in.

Yeah, I've done some d stuff before for other people, one supercharged one too, but this one should open a few eyes.

OK, I'll document the D-series build . (I guess I'm old enough that I thought EVERYONE must have seen this by now!)
Just a little progress today:
Clearanced the block for forged rods

I think I'll wait for clearancing the girdle until I have the rods & pistons in my hands, as sometimes girdles need it, and sometimes not.
More to come!

So, who thinks a "total sleeper" would be cool?? As in a SIDE mount intercooler (yeah I said it.), a stock-appearing exhaust, and maybe even leave the CX single mirror?? I'm not sure if I can bring myself to rock one dorky mirror, but hey, when someone gets shut down by a stock looking CX, they might cry!

i think a "total sleeper" would be sooo bad ass, a side mount would be sweet or if u got a front mount intercooler that was black so it's less noticable? i dunno, but would you get just as good cooling with a side mount as u would with a front mount? or does it even matter?

Yeah, blow off noises will kinda give it away, but by that time its too late! bwahhahahaaha!
the SMIC I have in my shop is from a talon, and some DSM guys have (I think) hit 300whp with one. I think it would cool if it were in under a headlight area where a cold air intake goes, but with maybe a duct from the fog light area. I'm not sure. I wouldnt normally consider it, but I have one sitting there, soooo.....
