So, I just installed the mini me build that Justin built and sold me for it was only $300 into my kind of minty 91 Civic SI hatch. Paid only $1150 for the car with $1000 set of rims and new rubber, plus a full set of winters included!!!!!!!!!
Sold two winters (whoops), now need two more.

I added a new Fidanza 7.5 lb flywheel (really makes the engine spin, and really snappy), and Centreforce stage two clutch, irridium plugs and a set of Energy Suspension polymer motor mount inserts (engine does not move a bit).
Also used the thin y8 head gasket and the shaved, ported, polished, d15b head with 3 angle grind for about 11:1+ comp.
New axles and also Brembo rotors and race pads. Big fat ram air intake, header and full 2.5 exhaust, no cat. Super-light Eagle Alloy 17s with really sticky 205/40s.
And some coil overs and new struts and shocks to boot. Plus front/rear and top/bottom strut tie bars.( handles like on rails and darts through corners, and I have not even lowered it yet!).

*Going to add full MSD ignition setup and b16 throttle body right away.
Will add the JRSC if it is still for sale in a bit. Can't even imagine how crazy squirrely the car would be then!!!

I freshened it up with new rings and minor tweaks, so it is a re-rebuilt. Justin then came out to the shop 40 min. out of Vernon where I have rebuilt the whole car for the most part.
He sold me the Apexi for a $100 installed, and installed it there and then. So I had vtec right at the first fire up. Brought his timing light out for me too and he took care of setting timing also.

After we took a spin in my new ride, and we were both impressed ( i could tell he was proud of his old mini me build, and he should be!), i then asked if i could do one good launch in his Civic, which he was pretty happy let me do as I think he knew how much I appreciated his ride and the work he put into it.

So I totally blasted through a few gears from a standing start on a very dark night on a very rural back road and as we were screeeeeeeaming close to 10 grand redline in third I glanced sideways really quick and his face was lit up from the stereo, he had the biggest grin from ear to ear I have ever seen and his look of glee was almost like a mad scientist, a moment I will never forget. He has it tweaked pretty wild now, what a rush!!!!!!!
So thanks Justin, for being such a cool dude!

And this happened all on my 38th birthday, which made the whole deal that much more cool. I have had a lot of cars but this one is the one i have been waiting for since i first got behind the wheel 22 years ago. And I am only into it for about $2500. (plus a llllllllot of research and time)

So thanks again for being a part and helping make it happen Justin.

*Update: just got the rest of the race exhaust on, and also the rings are continually seating really well.
The motor just seems to be pulling harder and harder all the time, like Don Juan on pheromones!

I want to add the supercharger next already. Yeah, I admit it, I'm addicted to Vtec already, can't you tell?

I think the love comes more from having done the work yourself, or at least being a huge part of it. People underestimate the power of involvement.

Good work Avery! You stuck with it, and now you have something to be proud of smile And when people ask who did the work, you can stand tall and say "Me"

Well it has absolutely zero rust, no dents, and original paint with hardly a scratch, it was also undercoated from new. It was a Japanese mechanics car from Van as far as I know on the history, only two owners plus me. The interior is great, just needs a very good cleaning to make it like new.

Pics coming soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to keep the body of the car stock, because it is so clean. And i am starting to appreciate the shape it is in for being 18 years old.

Personally i think the 91 civic si hatch is the nicest Civic ever made, as far as body lines and style go. Anyone agree?

So, with what little there is to do, I will have it back to totally mint by spring.

Appreciate your guys interest. I updated the build at the beginning of this thread.

I used to own a 89 civic si.... I miss my EF....

I will agree it is up there for the nicest lookin civic... Plus it's a EF... anyone who does not like EF's should be shot and there dead bodies raped....

I always wanted a b16 ef... It was my dream car when I was in highschool.... I had my ef SI but could not afford the swap. I drove the crap out of that car and some fag hit me so I got a few grand for it from ICBC.

I check craigs list and like sent from god a B16 EG (close enough)... I was exstatic... went over there and comp tested it and bought it... Paid to much but when you want a car for so long money is not as importent (I was a millworker at the time.)

Im laid off now and in school but everyday I get to drive my dream car and thats all that matters.

So i can relate with the op for sure!

Here are a couple teasers for the "kinda minty" skeptics, it's too damn cold to wash my car right now for some full car pics, and never took any others of the car before except for these with my phone when I did the rebuild.

I did this in a shop/carport in the backwoods where the hillbillies roam. Kinda like how and where they used to build real muscle. Copperhead road comes to mind.
So it was kinda cool for me to do it "the old school way", real nostalgic, and I have great memories about it already. I had no hoist as you see, so I winched the motor up and swung it over the bumper by hand etc. And same putting it in, you can figure out the challenge there. Lots of fun!

And here is my buddy's cat, the "Honda Cat" we nicknamed him, as he was stuck to me like a magnet the whole time I worked on the car. If I was standing hunched over the motor in the engine bay he would jump up and sit on my back, if i was under the car laying down he was glued to my stomach, if i was on a stool he wanted on my lap, and stole the seat on the stool every time i got up. But he is just way to cool to get mad at.

Will put up full pics of the car, in/out after it thaws a bit and I do some minor detailing.

Just after the rings in my rebuild started to seat really well a sensor went and it put the car in limp mode so I was driving in the winter last 2 months under 3000 rpm, engine has about 5000 miles on it now and i just put fresh platinum plugs in it cause I had my old one it it after the rebuild. Then i added a secret ultra lube that I know of with a fresh oil change.

The bad sensor was in the distributor and so I swapped that out and runs puuurffect now. So.... after all the miles I put on in limp mode the rings continued to seat. Pulls like crazy now and is unbelievably more fast than I ever expected it to be. Sounds real crazy mean in VTEC too! It started chirping the tires on slow take offs with out even trying now too. Almost would describe the power as brutal at some points on acceleration.
Big thanks again to K&S for a phenomenal honing job to seat the rings best.

Just got some minor tuning left and I can't wait to see the potential of this little 1600cc motor, I know I can squeeze way more out of it!!!!!

If I put a supercharger on it it would be completely insane.

I think I should add the rear disks pretty quick.

Want to get together with some of you B18a/b swaps to compare the difference and have a little fun. So many members told me to go B, but I think this little build is a serious challenge.
